ASA 184 - Chicago

It has been a busy few weeks, but I finally remembered to take pictures at a conference. I had such a great time at ASA 184! I was able to catch up with some friends from last year's ASA School, made some new ones, and networked (hopefully not too awkwardly) with outstanding CSD and LingX faculty from all over the country! It was also fun presenting a term project with some IU linguistics colleagues related to rhoticity among Black speakers in the Boston area. This project won the Householder Best Student Paper Award in the IU Linguistics Department this Spring. I am looking forward to further examining the effects of ethnicity, ethnic orientation, and other social factors in relation to the sociolinguistic variable of rhoticity this summer with the rest of the team.
